The Bible teaches us that we are all part of one body. By volunteering and becoming part of a smaller group at church you connect with others both as a servant and as a co-worker. You will get to know others in a much deeper way when you work with them. Lifelong friendships can develop.
Deeper Spiritual Development
All of the smaller groups of UHBC include opportunity to grow closer in your relationship with God. We are blessed by God in order to be a blessing. Through service our understanding of God's blessing deepens.
Meet Other Who Share Your Interest
Like to sew? Join the service group that makes quilts for Habitat for Humanity homeowners. Is music your passion? Join the Chancel Choir and lead in worship. Whatever your interest—there's a place of service for you where you can meet others with your same passion and serve others who need your passion.
SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES WITHIN OUR CONGREGATION INCLUDE:Education Ministry
Service with all age range of children, youth, young adults, adults and seniors through our education ministry.
Music Ministry
Choirs for all ages and a Bell Choir meet on Wednesday evenings. Performance opportunities abound for instrumentalists. Interested in sharing music with the community? Then volunteer for the annual 'Festival of Faith and the Arts," a summer weekend celebration using various forms of the humanities. Or, volunteer at the First Wednesday Concert Series.
Technology
Are you knowledgeable about sound systems, websites or computers? We have a constant need for volunteers with this expertise. Is photography a hobby of yours? Help us with church history and publicity by sharing that talent. Can you spare a morning or afternoon to answer phones, doors and make copies? Staff meetings and high volume work days always need volunteers. There are mission groups, such as WMU, that have technological needs. Maybe you have the skills to help with building & grounds or our history committee.
Other Specialized Needs
The Library/Media Center needs volunteers to help members use this valuable resource.
Can you wash dishes or serve food on a food line? The Kitchen Committee and Church Hospitality Committee can always use another hand.
Are you friendly? Maybe the Ushers or Greeters committee is just the place for you to volunteer.
Our A.R.M.S. (Assist, Repair Maintain & Serve) ministry volunteers to assist the senior adults in our congregation. Is this your passion?
Love sports? Then why not volunteer for the Recreation Committee?
Do you have expertise with security? Each time our doors are open we need volunteers to keep those inside our building safe.
Have you moved a lot? Why not volunteer for Just Moved and help others deal with the stress of this transition.
Maybe God has called you to the ministry of Prayer. We have an active and on-going prayer ministry where you could serve.
Life experience may have prepared you to serve those who are grieving. Why not volunteer for our Bereavement ministry?
Enjoy helping young people starting out in life? The place for you might be our College Ministry or Wedding Ministry.
